  Below are the major stages of development in Dogs and Cats, and the recommended veterinary
  care we suggest they receive at each phase in their life.
 
Puppy - birth to 1 year
  • Physical examination
  • Vaccines (Depending on age) i.e. Distemper, Parvo, Rabies, Lyme, Kennel cough
  • Intestinal de-worming
  • Flea and Tick prevention program
  • Heartworm prevention (9-12 weeks)
  • Spay or Neuter
  • Identification tattoo or microchip insertion
  • Healthy puppy formula food

 
 
Adult Dog - 1 to 6 years
  • Annual physical examinations
  • Annual vaccinations as needed to conform to local and state laws
  • Dental health examination and cleaning if necessary
  • Periodontal probing if necessary
  • Flea & tick prevention
  • Heartworm check-up and prevention
  • Check for intestinal parasites
  • Baseline chemistry and blood panels
  • Proper diet and weight maintenance
  • Behavioral problems consultations
  • Urinalysis, if needed

 
 
Mature Dogs – 7 plus years
  • Physical examinations twice a year, including kidney and liver screens if on chronic medications like thyroid supplements, arthritis treatments and Phenobarbital
  • Special dietary needs and weight maintenance
  • Osteoarthritis check-up
  • Blood and eye pressure check-ups
  • Dental and Periodontal probing if necessary



 
 
Kitten – Birth to 1 year
  • Physical examination
  • Vaccinations:  Rabies (@ 3 months old), Respiratory (3 sets once every 3 weeks), Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficient Virus (2 sets @ 3-4 week intervals)
  • Intestinal de-worming
  • Heartworm prevention program
  • Spay or Neuter
  • Flea and Tick prevention program
  • Possible de-claw procedure
  • Microchip insertion

 
 
Adult Cat – 1 to 6 years
  • Annual physical examinations
  • Heartworm prevention program
  • Flea and Tick control regimen
  • Intestinal parasite check
  • Renew annual vaccinations as required by local municipality and county
  • Dental examination including periodontal probing
  • Leukemia/FIV test
  • Baseline blood and chemistry panel
  • Diet and weight consultation
  • Urinalysis

 
 
Mature Cat – 7 plus years
  • Physical examinations twice a year
  • Annual vaccinations
  • Screen for hyperthyroidism and kidney disease
  • Blood pressure and Osteoarthritis check
  • Dietary and weight consultation (Possible special diet)
